The north and the south have always been almost opposites. The north is industrialized while the south is agricultural. there is  a big diffrence in economy, society, and politics. The north and south have different points of view on things. They have different values and needs from the government.

When you think of the south you think of farms with animals and crops. Thats because the south has always been agricultural. Agriculture refers to the production of food and goods through farming and forestry. The reason for agriculture in the south is that they have the right conditions to grow more things. The north however is industrialized. This means theres more cities and not many farms due to the weather conditions. The south has more land while the north has a higher population. This means that the north has a higher economy than the south.

"Southern hospitality" is a term used by people to describe people in the south. It seems that in the south people are much more calm. They tend to be more kind and giving. The reason for all this is because people in the north dont have as much free time as people in the south. They have jobs that they need to be at and things that they need to to do in a very tight schedule at times. In the south people generally tend to their farms and have a lot more leisure time on their hands than northeners.

Most southern states vote republican while northern states tend to vote democrat. Thats because they have different needs from the government and different values. The south wants to be more independent without the government to tell them what to do and give them rules to follow. The south is more conservative and very religious and thats why they vote republican. The noth votes democrat because without the government it would probably fall apart. Theres much more crime in the south and overall its not as religious as the south.

All these things are divisions of the north and the south. They have peresisted because the economy of the south has never been able to catch up to the economy in the north. part of that is because the north did not do a good job at reconstructing the south. The south still seems angry about this and still wants more freedom from the government. In the future there may be hope for unity between these two sections of the country but for now there is still tension between them.l

  1. Lemme start out with saying that everything I say here I say either as a friend giving constructive criticism or as a friend messing with you.

1.okay. yes, and no. yeah they did have different economies and such, but check it, the whole thing was a unique situation. It was a kind of "propaganda" technique that the North had employed. they needed something to fight for, so why not fight for FREEDOM! =P

2.Em, yeah, this paragraph is wayyyy off topic. The states havnt been set up (even to this day) to work in conjunction with the federal government. Wait until someone or something comes along and sparks a new war about it. PLus, currently, we are moving toward socialism, so its up in the air. Ugh.

3.Someone wanna tell me what the deuce this girl is blogging about?! This paragraph is about george washington and his speech, not about "southern hospitality". cmon now. Yes there are issues. For instance local gun laws. What if someone from a state where guns are legal shoots an animal over a state line in a state where guns are outlawed? Case AND point.

4.Yet again, another paragraph thats off topic. Yes the reconstruction could have been made easier by not using total war, but I mean who at the end of a hard day(week, month, year)doesnt want to blow off a little steam?! Now maybe killing people is a little bit much, but I would be pretty angry too if half of my country didnt like me and wanted to leave.

5.Yeah theres still tension, but we are all americans and we will perservere(sp?).

6.OMG THE SIXTH PARAGRAPH IS MISSING!!!!!!

  3. I believe your response was well-written. I can tell you thought out all of your answers and that you understand the text. I love your opinions incorporated within the answers you gave. It's important to include opinions as hard facts are boring, lifeless. Looking forward to reading your future responses!

  4. Maddieline I strongly agree with the concept of your The Northern and Southern states having diifrent Controversies between each other. In the Southern states Is very hospitable and warm loving. Then on the other hand the Northern states are very much industrialized because of the area that they Pertain too, Such as Detroit, New York and Chicago. But overall i enjoyed reading your post.

  7. I personally liked your essay. One of the things i liked is how you showed the difference between the North and the South. Its good to see your opinion as well knowing facts the i didn't even know. I like the way you showed that North and South vote differently and live different lives. I definatly can't wait to read more.

  9. Now, I know that I'm a little late but we don't have internet so...shut up. Anyway, I enjoyed your essay, but I have to agree with Bozarth on some stuff. The south wanted to become thier own government, so their unity would have been strained. And I think i is a bit stereotypical to say that the South is more laid back , because that simply isn't true. Just because the south did not have factories and were agricultural does not mean that they worked less and were more leisurely. In fact, I think they worked harder than the North because they relied on their own strength to thrive. The north was wrong as well in their view on slaves, so morally they two of them were not so different. Sorry, Mad. But other than that, I liked it...
